The map archive now also in English
Some have expressed a desire to have the map archive also in English, and of course this is something that should have been in place from day one. It took some time, but now it is possible to choose a language. The language selection buttons are located at the top of the menu on the left.

Kartarkiv   BETA
Kartarkiv.no now has a test-base, the socalled BETA, where new features are published before they are launched live.
When a new club is registered, the club is automatically also listed in Beta, so that the club can choose to log in there to test new features.
You can use the same user in both sites (live and Beta).
When you are in the Beta site, you will see a clear, wide, green line at the top of the page. The line also says   BETA   in several places. This is to make it clear that you are not in the real map archive, but in the Beta site.
When you upload or download maps from Beta, no message will be sent to other users (as it does in the real map archive). Then you can freely test features without thinking that you are generating messages that are sent to others.
NB! One important feature of Beta is that features are to be tested. You may therefore experience instability or lag.
If you experience persistent deviations, you can either wait a bit or report it to kartarkiv.no. We greatly appreciate your participation in testing!
Thank you!

PS: You will find a link to BETA in the menu on the left, at the bottom under General.

The approval module is in place and the historical archive was included
This is a big day! Not only are there elections in the US, which the whole world is watching with excitement, but the long-awaited APPROVAL MODULE has now been published in the map archive.
The release also includes a quick start to another highly requested feature, namely the HISTORICAL map archive.
Video for the former is already launched. You can now also find it in the menu on the left. (If you don't see it, scroll down.) Video for the historical module is coming soon.
NB! In order for districts and clubs to start using the approval module, it is important that the districts notify Konkylie Data AS about who will be the district's Super User. This means that the district admn must submit information about
  • Name
  • Mobile number
  • Email
for this user. Once the user has been registered, an email will be sent stating that the system can now be used.

Monitor downloaded maps
Now the club's Superadmin can activate a function that will help ensure that the maps are returned to the map archive.
The function is designed so that the user downloading the map must state why the map is being downloaded and when the map is expected to be completed.
When the specified date has passed, the mapper and the club's Superadmin will receive a reminder by email that the map should have been delivered. The mapper will be asked to log in and either upload the map, or enter a new expected completion date. In addition, the user concerned can indicate approximately how far the project has progressed (in percentage).
It is possible to postpone the date twice - a maximum of one month each time.
When the postponed date approaches, the mapper and Superuser will receive reminders about this.
If the map is not uploaded within the set date, the map will automatically be unlocked and the map will thus be released for everyone who has access to it.
This feature is voluntary and in a testing phase. We would like to receive feedback on how the clubs experience this feature.
PS: It is of course allowed to upload the map and then download it again and start a new round.

Konkylie Data AS signs agreement with NOF
Konkylie Data AS has now signed an agreement with the Norwegian Orienteering Federation (NOF) for the use of the map archive.

NOF wants all clubs in the country to connect to the map archive. The purpose is to give everyone the same platform for handling and administering their maps, and to coordinate the possibility for the public for downloading maps.
The plan is to have an approval module in place in the application later this fall. Via the approval module, clubs will be able to send the maps directly to their district admin for review and approval of the map, whether this concerns new maps or changes.

Merge maps
A function has now been added that allows you to merge two or more maps.
The function works from the LIST view for the maps.
At the top right there is now a button called [Merge maps]. Click on this, then radio buttons for each map that can be merged is activated.
Select the maps that should be included in the merge and click on [Merge selected].
Finally, a dialog appears where you specify which of the selected maps should continue as the main map.
The other map(s) are then incorporated into the selected main map.
All outlines are added to the main map.
After the merge, it may be a good idea to go back and check the details, not least the outlines.
This function can be nice to have when the club is going to create a new map of an area where an old map already exists. In the process of getting the new map in place, it often happens that there is a little more activity on uploading and downloading. Until the new map is finally finished, it may be a good idea to keep this map away from the existing one, in order to be able to use the old map file until the new one is ready for use.
When the new map is in place, it can be merged with the old one. This will also maintain the history (i.e. the text in this context) of what has happened over the years.
BEFORE merging, it may be a good idea to add the map or maps you want to include in the Historical Map Archive there.
