Yes, you can!

When the map is submitted for approval, it is submitted to different part of the system - in fact, a copy is added to the Historical map archive.

This means that after you have submitted the map for approval, you can change as much as you like without affecting the submitted map.

For the map that has been submitted for approval - and is now actually in the historical map archive - you can change downloadable snippets, but you cannot change information or outlines for the map if it has been added to the historical map archive via an approval.

Yes, it works perfectly well!

You must agree on which club will have the map in its portfolio.

Then the club that has the map in it's system grants access to the map so that users from the other club will have access. Only the club's Superuser can grant such access.

It may be a good idea to list the user(s) from the neighboring club who need access with the level "Free bird" and then go into the very map (at the very bottom) and grant access as "Mapper" (or "Course setter") for this map only.

Remember that if access is granted on a general basis, this applies to all the club's maps, and that might not be want you want.

It is easy to add old maps to the historical map archive.

In short, this is done in four simple steps:

Create a map in the REGULAR map archive.
You do not need to have a digital map file
Draw an outline of the map.
Use the function Add downloadable snippet to upload a scanned version of the old map and add this to the map view (along with the outline) of the historical map.
Send the map to the historical archive (see button at the very bottom of the map detail page).

That's all.
You can change the date when the map was valid AFTER you have added it to the historical map archive.

When the map is transferred, the associated downloadable snippets are also copied to the historical archive.

You can go to the historical map details page and adjust the date when the map should have existed after it has been transferred. This may be relevant for maps that have not previously had any real entry in the map archive.

You can submit maps to the historical map archive multiple times as long as the map has a new version in the ordinary map archive. Each time an entry is made in the historical archive and thus builds up a history for this map.

If you find that you do not want all versions in the historical archive, you can choose to delete an entry (click on the trash can in the historical Overview List.

This depends on how many people you think actually need access.

It may be a good idea to limit access at the Mapmaker level to those who actually draw maps and not just anyone.

Assess whether all club members need access to be able to create courses for a training session. Many end up assessing it so that the training committee sends maps to the person in charge for organizing the training.

Tip: For course planners of training runs, it is absolutely okay to use Purple Pen (see https://purple-pen.org/), i.e you don't need an expensive OCAD license.

No problem!

As a Superuser or Mapper, you can easily fix this.

Go to [Overview LIST] and find the map in question.

Click on the EDIT icon, i.e. . This will activate the download. There is of course no map to download, so you don't need to click the actual download button when it finally appears.

Go back to the [Overview LIST]

Now click on the UPLOAD EDITED MAP icon, i.e. . This will take you to the map details page, but now the map file upload is active and you can upload your map.

Under the YouTube channel "Kartfreak" you will find several videos that show how to use the map archive - and much more useful. Unfortunately, these videos are all currently in Norwegian, but following the video will hopefully give you some idea of the use.

At the bottom of the menu on the left you will find a direct link to a selection of the videos.

This may be because the display switch is not set to "Public".
You can find this switch at the bottom of the line called "Facility no. and outline".
Only maps that are set to "Public" are visible outside the club's map overview. This is because sometimes maps are uploaded while in preparation.
